Paul Madalinski is a Chicago-born artist who transplanted his urban roots to rural Brookline, Vermont in 2009. A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (MFA, 1974), he is an NEA/Arts Midwest grant recipient and his work is owned by both public institutions and private collectors.

His paintings and drawings explore the transformation of ordinary places and objects into sometimes enigmatic visions that are no longer entirely familiar. His work is inspired by the landscapes and people outside his door, wherever that door is.

Paul primarily works with oil paints and with water-based media such as gouache on paper. He also uses pastels, charcoal, graphite and sometimes printmaking techniques to achieve his vision.
